Reader reviews:
"This is pure butterflies in the stomach from start to finish. It’s a beautifully written book with everything you could ask for: sorrow, loneliness, and an abundance of love! And the way love is described — it goes straight through the pages and into my heart! I can feel the newness of the romance, and the hesitation that grows with a new relationship."
"Having enjoyed previous works by Sara Dalengren, I was curious about this book. It’s a cosy feel-good romance that’s easy to get into, but even harder to put down. In fact, I ended up listening to the entire book in one sitting today. I really liked both of the main characters, Sofia and Erik, and it was interesting to follow their journey from a budding friendship that grows into something more. This is the first book in the Song Birds series, and I’m already looking forward to the next instalment."
"This is a lovely book about finding yourself again after life has dealt you some heavy blows. The story begins with a dark melancholy and hopelessness, and it’s beautiful to follow the character as her inner light slowly comes back to life. And it's the characters who truly take up space in my heart in this book. You know, so much so that the story almost fades into the background (though of course, it doesn’t disappear — it remains important in itself). But honestly, the choir could sit on a stump the entire book, and I would love every single one of them anyway, they are so wonderfully portrayed!"
"If you’re looking for something cosy, sweet, and undramatic, look no further. It’s romance, it’s love, it’s two people finding each other as they begin to heal. Lovely side characters, a small-town setting, and just all-around feel-good romance. I adore Erik and Sofia together. How they handle questions and possible complications, how they fall in love, and how they build their relationship together. I could read 200 more pages about their path to love."
"What a lovely little gem of a book! Filled with so many emotions, both joy and sorrow. It was fascinating to follow both Sofia and Erik through their grieving processes. Losing your husband in a tragic accident, and being betrayed and abandoned by the one who should love you forever — incredibly difficult in similar ways, but of course also very different. One was left unwillingly, and the other was chosen to be left behind. A book that started sadly with defeated characters, but as you read, it brings back the spark and the smile. A delightful read."
