Reader reviews:
"Just like the first book in this series, the second one was also a very good and exciting fantasy adventure with magic, murder mysteries, and romance, all written in an accessible and vivid language. I love the world that has been built."
"Wow! What a continuation of this upcoming trilogy! As you know, I loved the first part, Gods of Rot and Ruin. But this one really raised the bar! Political intrigues, marriage of convenience, elves, murder, romance with heat 🔥, and strong emotions. So, we get both a romantic fantasy with elves and magic, AND a murder mystery?
Incredible job, Linnéa! The fact that you are so young and have already written two fantastic books really makes me drop my jaw. Keep up the good work! 🙏🏼"
"I was completely hooked on this romantic and dark fantasy! I really liked the characters and the beautiful language. I'm really looking forward to the final part now!"
"I like this sequel even more than the first one! Although you can read this one as a standalone, I recommend reading the first part to understand what drives Caruwynn. I truly love how the elves are portrayed and how Engman paints her world. The elves are, to say the least, interesting characters with their well-developed sense of smell; the many scent impressions really bring the story to life. Blood, secrets, and murder blend with burning desire, magic, and love in the castle with its many underground passages. A tempting cliffhanger to the next part increases the mystery: where is Serene? Read this blood-scented murder story set in a wintry elven realm!"
"What a continuation. This one was a notch better than the first, and now I’m looking forward to the final part."
"My first thought is that I need to reread the book. There were so many threads and intrigues that I feel I missed something. But in a good way. Definitely a page-turner with characters you root for. The book could have been a bit longer, I want more of Caru and Antaro, a bit more closure, so to speak."
"I liked the descriptions of emotions in the book, they were really well done, I could almost feel the emotions myself. The language in the book was light, and the short chapters really pushed the reading forward. I enjoyed reading about characters from the first book again. I also liked the build-up to the steamy scenes."
