Created by her mother’s forbidden magic, Freja lives between two worlds, despised by both vampires and magicians. When she is accepted to Sinclair’s University for Magicians in Edinburgh, she sees it as her chance to prove she belongs in the world of magic.

But when a brutal murder shakes the campus, all suspicions fall on her.

Determined to clear her name, Freja starts to unravel the mystery and is drawn into a world filled with monstrous creatures and devastating magic. After seeing a mysterious man at the crime scene, she can’t shake the thought of him. Their encounters leave her with more questions than answers and a sense that he’s hiding something.

To uncover the truth, Freja must piece together a puzzle of clues without knowing who she can trust, while grappling with the demands and expectations of belonging to two powerful families.
